The expression in the title “from the tree into the bottle” is in this case not correct: Passion fruit grows on bushes similar to our vines. Like the vine, the passion fruit plant has to be tight up with wires, which help to carry the fruits.

The passion fruit plants grow very quickly. It needs only nine months from the plantation to the first crop, consequently this is one of the reasons jointly with others responsible for the relatively big price fluctuation of this fruit.
In Ecuador, at present the world-wide biggest cultivator of passion fruit, you will hardly find any proper passion fruit plantations. The cultivation is done far more by ten thousands of minor farmers and usually next to their houses. The passion fruit is an important component of their earning.

Unlike to the most fruits e.g. apples, oranges, bananas etc. you do not harvest the fruits from the plant. You wait till they fall on the floor and this is a sign, that the fruit is mature and can be eaten respectively processed.

Because of the fact that the fruits fall from the bushes and have to be picked up from the floor they arrive at the factories very dirty.

A repeated and intensive wash of the fruits is necessary before production.
The first manufacturing operation of the fruits is made with specially build machines, which take out of the fruit the strongly seeded pulp. Subsequently the seeds get removed from the pulp with the assistance of a sieve and/or a centrifuge.

For preservation and storage the remained passion fruit juice will be frozen. PASSION FRUIT JUICE (SINGLE STRENGTH), a product of our supply range.
The passion fruit juice is more saleable as concentrate than juice. Bound to that specific purpose, the passion fruit juice is condensed to concentrate using a special evaporation machine. The product is shipped to Europe, America and Australia in steel drums containing two inside polyethylene bags, either frozen or aseptically packed.

We can supply you the passion fruit juice respectively concentrate, like all our products out of our range, packed in the original packaging (drums at 200 litres) and/or bulk (delivery by tank truck).
Thanks to its distinct exotic flavour the passion fruit is nearly without exception one component in most of the multi fruit mixes obtainable on the market.

The aroma is so strong that only a tiny portion of passion fruit juice needs to be added in order to taste the unique tropical flavour in the final product.
